Paget Brewster Debuts Dramatically Different Look For ‘Criminal Minds’

Brewster isn’t 35 anymore and isn’t pretending to be.

If you’re fan of Criminal Minds, you may not recognize Paget Brewster, aka agent Emily Prentiss.

But that appears to be by design. Otherwise, Brewster probably wouldn’t have shown off her new look on social media.

She described her character’s appearance for the next season as “slightly older” and “sassier.” Those appear to be pretty accurate descriptions.

“Oh, hi Guys!! This is my first ⁦@criminalminds hair and make up from this morning,” Brewster wrote above her picture. “I hope you’re all excited for a slightly older, sassier, no filters, grey-haired Prentiss. And if you aren’t, that’s cool, just tell someone else.”

Based on those comments, Brewster isn’t just bringing a new look to Prentiss. She is also bringing some attitude.

Interestingly, Prentiss has always been known for her black locks. But Brewster, 53, hinted at a potential change back in July.

“I like my grey hair,” she tweeted then. “I have felt pressure to dye it, pretend to be 35 again, no thanks. We all have huge issues to address, I know. This is one small battle. But I think all of us have small personal battles. Let’s start by being kind to each other, even when we disagree. Please.”

Brewster first joined Criminal Minds in the ninth episode of Season 2 back in 2006, and continued regularly until her role was reduced in Season 6, supposedly because of financial reasons. Her final episode of her first run came in 2008 — though the role was revived in 2014. She returned as a regular in Season 12.

The Criminal Minds revival will take place on Paramount+, with many of the key cast members returning.

“In the revival series, FBI’s elite team of criminal profilers come up against their greatest threat yet, an UnSub who has used the pandemic to build a network of other serial killers,” Deadline reported. “Now, as the world opens back up, the network goes operational, and the team must hunt them down, one murder at a time.”
