Supermodel Miranda Kerr is embroiled in one of the biggest international embezzlement scandals in history after her billionaire ex-boyfriend used stolen money to lavish her with millions of dollars worth of diamonds.

Fox News reports that Malaysian financier Jho Low, who Kerr dated for a year, is accused of orchestrating the theft of $4.5 billion from 1 Malaysia Development Berhad, a fund aimed at promoting economic development projects.

A federal civil lawsuit filed Thursday contends that Low’s extravagant courtship of Kerr began in 2014 when he gave her a $1.29 million, 11.72 carat heart-shaped diamond for Valentine’s Day, soon after her divorce from actor Orlando Bloom.

Then the following November, according to the suit, Low one-upped his initial gift by putting down a partial payment of $3.8 million on a diamond pendant worth $4.5 million. He had the gift, which came with a $800,000 chain and necklace, delivered to the London office a lingerie company, which he also allegedly purchased with dirty money.

His next gift to Kerr was a set of diamond earrings valued at $1 million. In all, Low spent over $5 million on Kerr and the government wants it back. And they can either sue her to get the diamonds or she can hand them over willingly.

Meanwhile Kerr, who’s now married  to billionaire Snapchat founder Evan Spiegal, has reportedly been cooperating with the investigation, which is hoping to seize more than $1.6 billion worth of Low’s assets, including a yacht, a jet, art, jewels and property.

As you can see, you can argue with Low’s methods but definitely not his taste.
