According to Taunton Police, a woman was driving her “1999 Mercedes on Staple Street at a speed greater than reasonable and proper, left the roadway, struck numerous (six) mailboxes, some of which went airborne and smashed the rear window of a vehicle parked in a driveway along the way, crossed the street onto lawn and wiped out the homeowners new well cove.”

The crazy chain of events led to 39-year-old Amy Rebello-McCarthy being charged with operating under the influence, driving to endanger and a marked lanes violation. Apparently, she was standing next to the crashed car when officers arrived.

The police reported: “When they approached her she began laughing and didn’t feel the crash was that serious.”

Upon further inspection, officers found that Rebello-McCarthy was transporting her pet bearded dragon in her bra. If that weren’t enough, her passenger was carrying an air soft replica, which caused police to wrestle him to the ground.

The bearded dragon was turned over to an animal control officer, while the current status of Rebello-McCarthy and her passenger are unknown.
