Relive some of the nastiest insults of all time with the opening scene from Full Metal Jacket YouTube Screenshot

On June 26, 1987, Stanley Kubrick’s Full Metal Jacket opened up in U.S. theaters and quickly became one of the most harrowing depictions of the Vietnam War, and war in general, to date.

There’s so many iconic scenes from the film, but probably the most memorable is the opening six minutes when R. Lee Ermey, himself a former Marine Corps Staff Sergeant, unleashes a can of verbal whoop ass in the form of Gunnery Sergeant Hartman.

It’s been 30 years since we first heard such putdowns as “you are only unorganized, grab-asstic pieces of amphibian shit” or “looks to me the best part of you ran down the crack of your mama’s ass and ended up as a brown stain on the mattress,” and we doubt we’ll ever hear such ball busting of that caliber ever again.

It’s no surprise that Ermey got a Golden Globe nomination for his role in the movie, because heat-seeking insults were missiles, this dude would have himself a certified nuclear stockpile.
