In terms of spoilers and inside info, there wasn’t a whole lot that came out of the Game of Thrones fan convention Con of Thrones in Nashville, Tenn. over the weekend.
There was, however, a welcomed morsel for fanatics of the show to feast on in anticipation of its July 16, Season 7 premiere. It centered on next year’s Season 8, and what’s slated to be the final season of the hit show, but also included a nice surprise for this coming season.
While the number of episodes has been trimmed down for Seasons 7 and 8, which are scheduled to have just seven and six episodes, respectively, Season 8 is said to be headed towards episodes of 8o-plus minutes in length. The finale of the upcoming Season 7 is also expected to be a more feature length 80-minute plus episode.
So, one of HBO’s most popular shows may be drawing to a close but shorter seasons are likely to be balanced out by longer episodes.
