More like Always Spicy in Philadelphia — Charlie Day gets serious for this hot wings challenge YouTube Screenshot

Charlie Day, perhaps best known as Charlie Kelly (aka Dayman, fighter of the Nightman, champion of the sun… he’s a master of karate and friendship for everyone; aka the inventor of Kitten Mittens) from the legendary show It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, is the next victim of First We Feast’s Hot Ones challenge, where celebrities answer questions and talk about, well, pretty much whatever, before attempting to scarf down chicken wings with sauces ranging from mild to brutally scalding.

While Charlie Kelly is known as eccentric, to say the least (more accurately, he’s batshit crazy), his real-life counterpart is somewhat more mild-mannered, making this video even more entertaining.

Per First We Feast:

[N]o matter how many outrageous foodstuffs Charlie Kelly has consumed on screen, nothing could prepare actor Charlie Day for the capsaicin-fueled gauntlet that is the Hot Ones challenge.

Outside the city limits of Philadelphia, Day is surprisingly calm, cool, and collected, joining host Sean Evans in Los Angeles to promote his new film, Fist Fight, with Ice Cube. But like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, some 550,000 Scoville units slowly transform the suave, Hollywood actor into the high-pitched lunatic we’ve all come to know and love.

Charlie Day is an expert at playing unhinged, wacky, generally deranged characters, but it seems, with the Hot Ones challenge, there’s less method acting than real-life terror, confusion, consternation and insanity.
