This Kurdish member of the YPG in Syria has the best attitude possible for taking on ISIS.
When a bullet from a high-powered sniper rifle just misses her head and takes a golf ball-sized chunk out of the wall directly behind her, she half-heartedly ducks for cover and simply laughs it off like someone just told her a bad joke.
And it’s a good thing because she’s part of a battalion of women doing battle with ISIS day in and day out all over Syria and Iraq, a battalion known for having a complete lack of fear.
Considered one of the most effective forces combating ISIS in Syria, the 7,000-member YPG, or People’s Protection Unit, receives air and armament support from the U.S. in its fight to capture the city of Raqqa.
Journalist Hemze Hamza, who recorded the shootout, says the Kurdish women in the YPG “know no fear.”
“Your average human being would be scared for life after being so close to death but she kept laughing,” he wrote in his tweet.
How badass is that?
