A dude and his wife who were having a blast paddleboarding on the water in Merkbosstrand, South Africa were in for a huge surprise when a giant squid was discovered injured underwater.
James Taylor, 39, and his wife Christina noticed that the creature was having a life issue and actually tried to help it bring it to safety.
The beast responded by getting its tentacles aboard.
The insane encounter was filmed and put on his Instagram for the whole world to marvel at.
“Spotted an injured giant squid just behind the waves in Melkboss a while back and decided to try and get it to the beach. With @cristinafva and @wahinemich. #giantsquid #kraken #capetown #melkbosstrand #ocean #sup,” he wrote there.
Insert a “What’s krak-a-laken, Mr. Giant Squid” pun here.
Just look at that thing.
According to National Geographic, the giant squid can “can be at least 33 feet (10 meters) long” and “[t]he largest of these hard-to-find giants ever found measured 59 feet (18 meters) in length and weighed nearly a ton (900 kilograms).”
They may seem monstrous but, thankfully, they just eat fish, shrimp, small whales and other squid.
