Conor McGregor’s coach offers a look into some of the UFC superstar’s potential opponents YouTube Screenshot

With all of the craziness surrounding the hypothetical McGregor vs. Mayweather fight, we sometimes have to remind ourselves that Conor McGregor is a fighter under contract with the UFC and the lightweight champion, at that.

Now we can hope, wish and pray all we want, but as more time passes, the less likely it appears that this fight will ever happen. But McGregor’s coach, John Kavanagh, is advocating hard to make it happen, and if it does, he believes he’ll be back in the Octagon after that. Kavanagh had this to say on a recent episode of Submission Radio:

Kavanagh says that he’d like to see a third fight against Nate Diaz, to see someone break the 1-1 fight record tie. He also says that he could easily see McGregor going up against the winner of this weekend’s battle between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson. The other fighter that he mentioned, which we found to be the most intriguing, is Georges St-Pierre. In 2013, St-Pierre walked away from the sport as the welterweight champion. Now that he has officially re-signed with the UFC, he’ll fight the current middleweight champion Michael Bisping.

Whether his next fight is Mayweather, Diaz, the winner of Nurmagomedov and Ferguson, or St-Pierre, we know we’re in for one hell of a fight, because all of those are worthy opponents. Now, we just have to sit back and wait.
