It turns out that a miniature rocket launch looks a million times cooler in slow motion YouTube Screenshot

A six-foot-tall model rocket may be on a scale worlds smaller than a NASA rocket, but launching one and capturing video of it with a high-speed camera can unlock images more impressive than you’d ever expect.

The SlowMo Guys, an award-winning science and technology entertainment web series created by Gavin Free and Daniel Gruchy, did just that recently and the results are pretty spectacular.

Using a Phantom V2511 high-speed camera and a Phantom Flex 4k, they recorded the launch from two different angles. When slowed down to 28,000 frames per second, the resulting video footage is akin to a fireworks or pyrotechnics display.

Not anywhere nearly as visually stunning as a NASA launch, but any ants or insects in the area at the time would probably argue that.
